HIPAA Officers

As HIPAA rules and regulations are continuing to be enforced by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, many healthcare organizations are beginning to lay the framework for a new layer of responsibilities in their corporate structures to create a clear chain of responsibility for HIPAA compliance, starting with the CIO.

As it currently stands, HIPAA will require two new positions that typically report to the CIO: a HIPAA Security Officer, who is responsible for maintaining the security of electronic patient data and a HIPAA Privacy Officer, who is responsible for compliance with the final privacy rule.

If you are interested in one of these positions, we have included a job description for a HIPAA Security Officer.
